Got Mold? Business Update
It has been a hectic spring and summer for Got Mold?. As stated by our founder, James C. Watson, “We have been inspecting an average of 15 homes and five businesses per week.”
Got Mold? has been busy inspecting restaurant kitchens, decommissioned buildings with leaky roofs, basements, bathrooms, milling companies, retail stores, school boards, churches, milling companies, and agribusiness.
Earlier this year, we reported that Got Mold? was actively engaging School Boards & the Military. We are pleased to report that we have visited the local military bases in Saskatchewan and made contact with the decision makers. In addition, we are now working closely with school boards in Southern Saskatchewan to develop a mold maintenance and monitoring schedule. One school we inspected had asbestos and mold issues, so we are pleased that school boards are beginning to take these issues seriously. Got Mold? offers training seminars to the maintenance deparments of schools so that when moisture issues, sewer back ups, mold or asbestos concerns are encountered, they know how to proceed.
To keep up with customer demand for services, Got Mold? recently started a Reconstruction Division so that we can offer a turn key mold remediation solution to our clients that includes the removal of contaminated materials, mold clean up, and final reconstruction.
To help clients with seepage issues, Got Mold? now offers our clients sump pumps, including installation.
To keep up with demand, Watson states that “some of our teams have been working 12 to 15 hour days, then driving two to three hours to get home or to the next project site.” Watson looks forward to working with some franchise partners in Saskatchewan to ensure that Got Mold? is able to service all inquiries in the province.
Leaky roofs, leaky faucets, basement seepage, and excessive humidity are issues that are causing most of the mold issues that Got Mold? teams have encountered. According to Watson, mold is preventable and it is “kind of sad that so many people only act upon mold issues when health concerns are reported.”

I have held various positions with the company, starting primarily with business development and marketing. Today, I still manage the marketing responsibilities, but have also assumed the position as CFO overseeing the financial management as well. Though the company is based in Saskatoon, SK, Canada, I work out of my home in Kingston, ON, Canada and commute often to Saskatoon to meet with other members of the Management Team.
