What Happens When You Call got mold?™
INITIAL PHONE CALL
When a prospective client calls us because of a mold or asbestos concern, here is what happens.
First and foremost, our phones are always answered by a live person. We ask you questions to determine the scope of the problem and determine the potential health concerns. Questions we want answers to include the following:
1. What year was the building built? (Important as asbestos concerns are imminent when the building was built prior to 1990)
2. What is the size of the area affected?
3. What do you think is the cause of the damage?
4. Is there an odour or smell?
5. What type of HVAC system do you have? i.e. High Efficiency fan forced furnace, electric heat, boiler etc.
6. Is there a health concern related to the mold or anyone with a weak immune system?
These are just some questions we ask.
Our next goal is to set up an appointment to meet with you for an initial consultation.
Our goal is to create awareness and educate our customers. With this in mind, during our initial consultation, we will provide you with educational materials, including our “Flood Smart” and “Aware of the Risks” brochures, a business card and a got mold?™ pen.
During the inspection, our inspector will interview you and other building occupants to gather more information about your concerns. In addition, we will perform a visual inspection, take moisture, relative humidity, and dew point measurements both inside and outside of the building so that we have comparative data.
Since every situation is different, we require information regarding the building envelope. This information is required to set up a proper sampling strategy, if one is deemed necessary. It should be noted, companies that perform sampling without first performing a complete visual inspection of the buildings interior and exterior are most likely not providing you with the best service and should be avoided.
Pictures and a video will be taken so they can be reviewed by Project Managers after the consultation and throughout the duration of a project.
If, after the initial consultation, it is determined that work must be done, we will then create a scope of work for your review along with an estimated cost.
During the project and to keep you in the loop, we will provide you with access to your dropbox folder so that you have access to the pictures and other documents.
In addition, our Team leaders will communicate with you daily via telephone or email during your project, in an effort to keep you informed of our progress. We will also communicate any concerns or new findings we encounter during the project. Once the work is complete you will receive a report detailing our daily activities and time spent on each aspect of the project.
THIRD PARTY VERIFICATION
When we have completed your project it is a requirement that you have our work verified by an independent third party.
This step is necessary because when mold contamination is disturbed the tiny little spores become airborne. These tiny little spores can not be seen by the naked eye so the air must be sampled and must meet the standards of a normal fungal ecology. A normal fungal ecology is achieved when the air on the indoor environment test results are equal to or less than the counts found in the outdoor air. Also indicator molds such as Chaetomium SP. and Stachybotrys SP. must be identified if found in indoor samples after remediation and further cleaning may be required.
Once we receive the Third Party verification that the work site is back to a normal fungal ecology we will conduct a follow up call to gather information pertaining to your overall experience with got mold?™ and ask for a testimonial. We take our future seriously and use the data provided by our customers to learn and educate our employees. We strive to improve on every project.
