Profiteering Psychopath Billionaire Sentenced To Only 18 Years For Mass Murder!
On June 3rd, Reuters reported that a billionaire Swiss industrialist was convicted for his part in Italy’s biggest asbestos scandal.
Stephan Schmidheiny was found guilty of negligence and sentenced to 18 years in prison and ordered to pay millions of euros in damages.
He was found guilty because he intentionally failed to install measures to prevent workers’ health being affected by asbestos at Eternit’s Italian plants.
In short, he put profits ahead of worker’s lives!
“This verdict encourages the battle by victims and their families for a world without asbestos and without that thirst for profits that sacrifice human lives,” victims’ association Osservatorio Nazionale Amianto said.
Schmidheiny’s negligence resulted in more than 2,000 asbestos-related deaths. In addition, there are thousands of other cases of chronic pulmonary disease, tumours and other illnesses. Consequently, more than 6,000 people, including former employees and residents of towns where plants were operated, are seeking damages.
Hopefull this sentence will set a precedent for other work-safety lawsuits and lead to prison sentences for other psychopath executives guilty of negligence that causes workers’ deaths.
